Tokyo, Japan – Japan has announced its first nationwide wireless home light switch.
It will be deployed by September 2018 for all mobile phones and tablets.
The switch will have a range of up to 1km and will have different power modes depending on the wireless devices being used.
The move was announced on Friday by the National Diet (National Assembly) and the Environment, Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Tourism Promotion Committee.
It comes as Japan prepares to switch to the next generation of wireless technology, called “smart phones and home lights”.
Japan has already introduced its smart home light and smart home devices, but not its wireless light, which has been largely reliant on power from the network and local sources.
