“It was very, very difficult, and it took me a long time to figure out how to do it.”
He says that when he finally was able to get Disney to agree to a deal, the company asked him to re-do a few scenes and then asked him if he wanted to rework them as well.
“I was like, ‘I’ll re-work them,'” he recalls.
“So I did a rewrite and re-wrote the rest of the movie.
I think I did about 100 rewrites and revisions.”
He then got Disney to pay him a percentage of the money they’d paid him.
The deal was announced on October 1, 2017.
“At that point, Disney was like ‘oh, we’re happy to do the deal,'” he says.
“They wanted me to rerelease Kingdom Hearts [as a video game] and I was like ok.
And I’m really happy I did it.
I’m very happy I’m back on the Disney lot.”
