Google’s “Switch” console is the latest entry in Nintendo’s console lineup and is available in the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
It features a touchscreen display that supports 4K and has a built-in wireless router for online play.
Switch is available for $299, a price that is almost double the price of its predecessor, the Switch.
In an interview with GameSpot, Microsoft boss Phil Spencer stated that the Switch’s price point will likely go down over time.
“There’s a good chance that the console price will be lower as time goes on,” Spencer said.
“We expect it to go down as more and more consumers buy it.”
According to Spencer, the console’s controller is a lot lighter than the Switch and its touchpad has more room to work with, which is a big improvement over the previous generation’s controller.
In addition, Spencer says the Switch is easier to set up than previous versions of the console, which made it easier for people to play with friends and family.
Spencer also praised the Switch for its ability to support both Nintendo’s Xbox One and PS4 games.
The Switch is one of the first consoles to support Nintendo’s Virtual Console service, and it supports both the Super Smash Bros. series of games and other Nintendo franchises.
The console has a dedicated home screen for game play, with the ability to play games from the Nintendo 3DS.
Spencer told GameSpot that Switch will also support Netflix.
“We are going to work on a new Netflix app,” Spencer explained.
“It will support streaming on Switch, as well as the other games we support on Switch.”
The Switch’s controller, on the other hand, is noticeably lighter than its predecessor’s.
While the Switch does not have a built in wireless router, Spencer said that it does support Wi-Fi Direct, which allows gamers to use their Switch’s Ethernet port for wireless connection.
Spencer said the Switch will support up to 20 simultaneous users at once.
Nintendo plans to support the Switch in the U.S. and Canada later this year, Spencer explained, but the company is not expected to release a U.K. version.
The Nintendo Switch will be available on November 18, and the company has a ton of other new games planned for the console.
It will also come with the Xbox One X, a new Xbox One S console, and a new Nintendo Switch portable, but Spencer said Nintendo is “not planning on doing any of those right now.”
